It's been awhile.... again.  End of school year activities, preparation for Vacation Bible School at church, a big crop two weekends ago and a host of other responsibilities ... the blog went on the proverbial back burner yet again.

I did steal away about 20 minutes this morning to work on a card that will most likely be Mitch's Father's Day card as he is "always on my mind and forever in my heart." The card was inspired by a card in an old CTMH catalog.

To make the background, I used the scoring blade on my paper cutter and scored the cardstock at different intervals and then sponged it with Chocolate Chip Ink.  The bird was inked with Old Olive, stamped off on a scrap piece and then the stamp was sponged around the edges with Chocolate Chip Ink prior to stamping the image and cutting it out.  The chipboard was colored with Very Vanilla Craft ink and a Sponge Dauber and then the outside sponged with Old Olive Classic Ink. 

 

 

Stamps:  Always

Paper:  Old Olive, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White Cardstock

Ink:  Very Vanilla Craft Ink, Chocolate Chip & Old Olive Classic Inks

Accessories: 5/8" Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade, Stampin' Sponge, Sponge Dauber, On Board Blossoms and Basics Chipboard, Ticket Corner Punch, Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool.

Compelled To Use It!

So after spending the time to organize it all, I just had to use it!

Bradleigh was home sick again today and it was a Club day so it had to be a quick one.  Then again, isn't that what chipboard is for -- quick and easy?!  My personal challenge was to figure out what to do with thos petals from the OnBoard Blossoms & Basics ensemble.

Here's what I came up wtih:

Stamps:  none! *gasp*

Paper: Spring Break Designer Series Paper

Ink:  Whisper White Craft Ink, Soft Sky Classic Ink and Blue Bayou Classic Ink, Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker

Accessories:   On Board Lots of Letters Chipboard, On Board Blossoms & Basics, Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Blender Pen and Gesso Surface Primer.

I used Gesso to "prime" my chipboard.  Once it's dry, you can lightly sand it and it will accept the Classic Inks and lighter colors that tend to darken when applied to the "naked" chipboard -- hmm, maybe that should be a video tutorial? 

Close Up:

I took the Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker around the edges of the chipboard for a two-tone look.  I like the results.
